Gen United

I worked for [popular fashion brand] for 3 years when I was diagnosed with a brain tumour in September of 2016. Everything moved very quickly. I was having PET scans, preparations for surgery, appointments. My surgery was scheduled urgently for December 5. [Popular fashion brand] told me that I would need to quit my job and reapply as I was taking time off during the Christmas black out period. I felt betrayed and abandoned. All of the unpaid overtime I had done and all of the skipped breaks meant nothing to them. This company will run you into the ground, especially if you live in NSW where the union density is virtually non-existent. Your hard work is not applauded, but exploited. They do not deserve your tears.
